Best Performance By Far
February 26, 2008
Clearly the best performance of the night followed by a classy speech and a classier move by John Stewart to let another person have 30 seconds to share and enjoy the moment. How many sales do you think they got after this performance in today’s instant download age?
More Mac Love
February 26, 2008
Got the wife a new computer this weekend and what do you think this mac-snob got her? Of course I did. I am proud to say that my house is now rid of PC’s and windows. Except of course for that damn Entourage, which is pretty good i admit.
Who you think is going to end up being the bigger mac snob in the house now? Place your bets, place your bets.
Dresses And More Dresses
February 26, 2008
Having girls means that you have to prepare for a lifetime of conversations and potential drama. Little did I know that I would have to start buying dresses in bulk starting at the age of 3. My eldest has reached a critical point in dress mania where she is trying (emphasis on trying) to refuse to wear pants. This goes so far as to say that she is pulling down shirts to turn them into “SHORT” dresses. I am not sure why this happened or how and I do think the dress is a gateway drug like …. you fill in your own personal blank. What have I created? What could I have done? Alas it seems that this is a phase that will either fade away or drive me to an early grave. I am guessing I should look for plots now.
Updates – Please Tell Me Its Over

Anyone find a mistake in yours? Did I screw you out of any winnings? Let me know as once this day is over it is over. Finito. Starting tomorrow I go back to being smug full time on the BM.
Final Winners (Man I Hope So)
February 25, 2008
In a rare catch I found a slight error in our battle for 3rd place. Juli had not been credited with her pick in Achievement In Makeup so she just picked up two points. This means the final tabulation in the top 5 (Only the top 3 were affected) -
Uh-Oh
February 25, 2008
We might have a change in third place so hold the West Coast Sweep party?
Final Results (Pending Audit Tomorrow)
February 25, 2008
The results stand as noted below after my audit. Congrats again to those West Coast Insiders! I knew somehow they would parlay that strike to benefit them. A few other random notes on the award show and our little pool -
- No one mentions Heath! Wow! I thought the coked-out audience would at least throw out on line about his brilliance in Casanova or A Knight’s Tale but nothing. My bad. One can hope I can pick a better tiebreaker next year when Mr. B. wins again.
- Glen Hansard & Marketa Irgiova winning Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” from the movie Once. Congrats to them winning, to having a great performance and denying Enchanted an Oscar. Brilliant trifecta.
- Congrats to John Stewart for being John Stewart.
- I need to adjust some scoring next year. I have the sound mixing and editing too high and the film editing and cinematography a little low. Again, my bad and we will adjust this next year a touch.
- Nicole Kidman does not look normal. Sorry but something aint right there and I am not just talking about the cheese-dick country singer she is married to.
- I got all excited thinking Rene Zellweger had dropped off the earth but i was wrong.
- I like Javier Bardem, classy guy.
- Man George Clooney has a nice life. Congrats.
- Why does the president of the Academy always have to have his little speech? Does anyone need this crap.
