Slowly Drifting

July 30, 2009

Why did it seem like July went by so slowly to me? I have a ton of things to look forward to in Sept. (namely baby #3) so that might be the cause but this month just dragged. Felt like a January to me. Ugh.

Death has once again attempted to take me and has yet failed again. Or maybe it is just a bad summer cold. Or it might be the many, many OTC medications I have taken. No matter what I am kinda back.

I Need This One

July 18, 2009

For someone reason I need this weekend. I’m not tired or burnt out, I just need it for some reason. Not sure.

Oh, and the new Harry Potter movie is very nice. Each one is surprisingly nice I must say.

A Fun Day

July 15, 2009

Today has been quite the fun day.  First we started off at Henry Vilas Zoo, located in Madison, WI.  You will not mistake this for Brookfield but this is not a petting zoo!  The fact that you can see a polar bear, multiple species of primates and a great tiger exhibit plus the fact that this is a no-charge admission makes it an ideal spot for a family.  They also have a nice central area for kids that includes a carousel a short train ride (both for $1) and this….

This happens to be one of the coolest tree houses/ playsets I have ever encountered and I have seen a bunch.  The next nice part of this zoo is that it is located across the street from Vilas Beach.  Again you are not going to confuse this for Oak Street or any other large body of water beach but the fact my kids can walk 40′ out makes it perfect for them.  We then ended up at a fantastic toy store,  (clearly I have lost individual perspective) Oompa.  This store focuses on import toys and features some of the coolest toys out there, trust me more on that later.

All in all a lovely 3 day mini vacation with the family.  Not so restful but quite lovely, especially this day.

New KSE

July 2, 2009

The new Killswitch Engage album is as bad ass as one would expect from this fricking band.  They bring it on every track like the last several albums as these guys just don’t waste a track.  Howard is at his peak and anyone who says these guys have gone soft can go fuck their metalcore selves.  Check out the single and video for Starting Over -

Health Defined

July 2, 2009

Generally the land of the belligerent man is a place for sarcasm and side notes that go along with my quite happy life.  I mean lets face the truth.  I have a great weefe that I have been with for well over 10 years and I am happy today as the first day we met.  I have 2 lovely daughters who are much brighter and more colorful than I could have ever dreamed of and I am expecting a 3rd in the coming months.  My mother lives with us and although that sometimes drives us all a little batty (probably her the most) it is wonderful for all of us.  I have a great job that I enjoy and I like my small group of comrades as well.

All in all I have very little to complain about.  I would say I lead a mentally healthy life overall.  Of course it has some pitfalls (Every time I type or say that word I think of swinging over some alligators while racing against a pointless clock!) with most of them being lodged deep inside my own terribly flawed brain but such is life.

However, one area I need to get on the stick – physical health.  True I have no health problems.  I see the doctor 2 times a year for check ups and my blood pressure and cholesterol check out just fine.  I can still keep up with my kids and my clothing size has not changed in the last 5 years.  Age though is catching up.  My ability to bounce back and recover every day or every hour is not as great as it once was.  So I can either get on HGH and lie to congress, very tempting or get my ass in some better shape.  I do verbalize this ever and I am hoping by typing this out it will give me a little more motivation to stay on course.  Nothing crazier, eat better, daily exercise.  Simple, right?
