Brain In Flux

August 26, 2009

It might be the lack of sleep, it might be the coming onslaught of THE birthday party or it might be baby girl #3 coming up fast but somehow my brain is in flux and I am not able to complete non-work related thoughts in full.  I have plenty of thoughts and ideas but all seem to fizzle around the 30-40% range.

However, based on the recent dr. appointment I do have baby on the brain so a couple notes from Week #36 -

The books out there say -

Fetal development in pregnancy week 36:fetus in ninth month The countdown continues… and in fetal developments: most of the bones (soft skull aside) in their little body are now completely hardened, providing a solid structure from which they can now make their grand debut into the world. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are structurally ready for a secure launch. In physical fitness news: their muscle tone has also improved over these past few weeks, and you’ll definitely be impressed by their steel-like Ulnar grasp (a newborn reflex that occurs if you lay your finger in their palm). And in genital development: if you’re having a girl, her labia are now fully developed. Finally, in the fluids/excretion department: the amniotic fluid-to-baby ratio has fallen over these past weeks, although they’re still swallowing fluid (building up even more meconium for that historic first poop), and some vernix caseosa. They will be more than ready to swallow and digest milk after birth. Just in case you didn’t get it quite yet: you’ve got yourself an adorable and hungry 6.5 lbs 20 inch baby—are you ready?

Umm…ready?  I have two daughters and a vast empire of pink surrounding me at all times but are you ever ready?  Maybe for baby #2 you convince yourself that you are ready based on the fact that you have a lot of crap surrounding you now and you kinda know what it feels like to be sleep deprived but ready, no.

I think with each kid you might be less ready as you have no idea how they will fit into the family dynamic and how the other minions might respond to them.  In addition, how are you ready to take care of a little one who will grant you much love, but no sleep, all the while The Furies are running around like never before?  Right now we have one grump in the house (me) but what will happen when we have multiplied this force by 5?

That also makes me want to rant about this – you get a baby shower for kid #1 but NOTHING for kid #3.  I had money when I had 0 kids but now is when I need all the shit that was heaped upon us 5+ years ago.  Where are you people now?  Why have you left?  Please come back with wicker laundry baskets filled with goodies.  PLEASE!

NO FUCKING AC

August 19, 2009

Pardon the curse in the title but the AC broke and no repairman until tomorrow. For me…ugh, for my 8 month pregnant wife….major ugh.

This one is designed to be a “conversation starter”.  My guess is that these conversations start with a banjo playing in the background.

#25-1-105

Measuring 12″ x 12″ and featuring a T-rex dinosaur skeleton, this lightweight aluminum sign is a great conversation starter.

Voting Time

I think for the next few days I am going to do some voting to see what people think.  Some will be kinda funny but some are kinda serious as well.  I doubt I will get too many votes as I seem to have a silent readership but that is ok.  And even though these are going to be cheap posts from a writing standpoint I am honestly interested in seeing the results.

Up first….Glenn Beck.
