SAG Awards

Bad, Bad Trophy.

The SAG Awards were awarded last night and I can only assume that no one watched them and unless you read the USA TODAY you probably don’t know the winners but I could be wrong.  Again, these are the awards by the Screen Actors Guild (Hence SAG) so the awards are for acting only, no technical awards (Even read closely how there is no BEST PICTURE award per se) Here are the winners…

  • Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture- The King’s Speech
  • Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role – Colin Firth,  The King’s Speech
  • Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role – Natalie Portman, The King’s Speech
  • Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role – Christian Bale, The Fighter
  • Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role – Melissa Leo, The Fighter

The King’s Speech is picking up some steam for Best Picture it appears but the real shocker to me is the Supporting Actor Categories with a sweep for The Fighter.  I thought The King’s Speech was going to clean up for both of those with Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. This could be a little more interesting than I thought it would be.  If you want to know the nominees just click on the link to the right showing the category “5th Annual Oscar Pool” and you can see all the related write ups including the SAG nominations.
