It is not a surprise to anyone that I despise (not hate) the Tea Baggers. This current financial debate makes that despise grow a little stronger as their own hypocrisy is exposed on a daily basis and although we supposedly live in a “liberal media” age you rarely hear about it. I have a few simple things sticking in my craw –
We will not raise taxes.
That is their stance. Ok, that is a nice thing to say to the American People and you an print up some nice stickers and mugs. You even signed a nice silly pledge to make it seem official. Now tell me how you are going to balance the budget without raising taxes? Cutting NPR and NEA? Ok, that is going to help. Now what? You know how you have to cut the budget – MILITARY. It is plain and simple. Going back to that great REPUBLICAN president Dwight D. Eisenhower (Also kind of know for being a 5 star general who won a little war called WWII) he said the following in his farewell speech knowing that the military institution of this country was the most dangerous threat we had in our future-
- “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense, a theft. The cost of one modern, heavy bomber is this: a modern, brick school in more than 30 cities.”
- “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for misplaced power exists and will persist.”
We have to cut the military spending and the lobby involved in this as it is the single greatest threat to democracy. Communism was never a threat to democracy as democracy is a seed planted that cannot be taken back. However, hi-jacking that seed and making it think it is a tree is by far a greater concern. Tell me when you are ready to cut military spending oh wise Tea Baggers and we can sit down and talk.
The sanctity of the constitution.
I get it. Let’s all pray to the founding fathers like they created the universe and by supporting the dead we create a strong idol that cannot be criticized unless you are un-American. Not a bad strategy but here is the part that always amazes me that again no one in the “liberal media” brings up. Do you know how many people lived in the colonies in 1776? How many people they were looking to govern at that time with the almighty constitution? 2.5 million people, that’s it. They created a document that in today’s terms would be used to govern Houston proper. Can you honestly say that if Thomas Jefferson was alive today he would say “oh yeah, I expected this document to run shit for 300+ plus years with no changes regardless of how the country and the world changed”? Really? They why aren’t the British running shit the same way they did 500 years ago as they had a pretty damn good reign? You know why you fucking insolent fucks…..times change, evolution and progress cannot be stopped and we elect our government officials not to bring us back to a different time period but to help us move smoothly into the future.
If I could get 2 minutes with a Bachmann or any of these idiots that is all I would ask. I know the answers would be rhetoric and talking points but I still would like to ask.
